Manchester United have been given the all clear to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to L’Equipe.
Cavani, 28, has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League and the Uruguay international has reportedly had enough of being forced to play on the wing to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front.
Louis van Gaal’s side will have to pay at least £32m for the striker but have been given the encouragement to step up their interest with PSG already looking at replacements.
Cavani became the most expensive signing in French football history when he made the £55m switch from Napoli to PSG in July 2013 and he has weighed in with an impressive tally of 43 goals in just 80 league appearances since then. In fact, only Ibrahimovic has scored more goals in that time (57).
