Manchester United end interest in Real Madrid star
According to the Daily Mirror Manchester United have ended their long-standing interest in Gareth Bale as they would see any deal as bad business for the club in the long term.
The Premier League outfit have been linked with the Welshman for a number of years now but feel that his hefty wage demands would not make for a smart move given his age.
Bale will turn 30 before the start of next season and has seen his Real Madrid career blighted by injuries since he left Tottenham for the Bernabeu.
The forward has started a modest 18 of a possible 30 matches in La Liga this season and not more than 21 since the 2014/15 campaign. Bale has eight goals and two assists to his name in Spain’s top-flight and his future in the capital remains unclear following the return of Zinedine Zidane, who is fighting hard to sign Chelsea star Eden Hazard in the summer.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are believed to be looking for much younger alternatives to the Wales international having been strongly mooted with a move for Jadon Sancho and recently Callum Hudson-Odoi.
