Mount, Maddison, Mings and Wan-Bissaka named in Southgate’s England squad

Chelsea starlet Mason Mount, Leicester midfielder James Maddison,  Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings and Manchester United ace Aaron Wan-Bissaka have been named in the England squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

All four players have been standout English performers in the first three league games of the new Premier League season and will now hope to make their senior England debuts at the start of next month.

Mount has scored two goals already this season, while Maddison has registered the most key passes in the Premier League since August 2018 (107).

Gareth Southgate first called up the midfield duo in October for matches against Croatia and Spain but neither were handed their Three Lions’ debuts, while Mings has earned international recognition for the first time.

Mings played a huge role in Villa's promotion to the Premier League last season and has made a similarly impressive start to the campaign since making his loan switch from Bournemouth permanent.

Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is an eye-catching omission from the squad, with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka rewarded with his maiden senior call-up and Kieran Trippier back in the frame following his fine start to the season with new club Atletico Madrid.

United midfielder Jesse Lingard has kept his place in the team despite a disappointing run of performances, while Tottenham ace Harry Winks is back after missing the UEFA Nations League finals at the end of last season through injury.

Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also back in the squad for the first time since March 2018 after recovering from long-term injury.

There is no place in the 25-man squad for Tottenhamd duo Eric Dier and Dele Alli, neither of whom have played in the Premier League this season, while Callum Wilson keeps his place despite Ashley Barnes impressive start to the campaign.
