Barcelona have entered the race to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane in a deal worth £200m, claims The Daily Star.
Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past but now Barcelona are interested in the England captain.
Barcelona are on the market for Luis Suarez’s long-term replacement and have earmarked Kane as their top transfer target.
Suarez turns 32 at the end of next month and Barcelona want his successor wrapped up sooner rather than later.
Kane only signed a new six-year Tottenham deal in the summer and it will prove an almost impossible assignment to prise him away from the north London outfit.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and he will more than likely demand Kane is made the most expensive player in the world.
Barcelona hope the cost of building Tottenham’s new stadium will help them lower the price in talks for Kane but will realistically be told to pay in excess of £200m.
Kane is regarded as one of the best strikers on the planet and Barcelona will get the chance to get up close and personal with the forward when they host Tottenham in the Champions League next week.
The 25-year-old has scored nine goals in 15 starts in the Premier League this season and four goals in five appearances in Europe.
In fact, only three players have scored more goals than Kane in the Champions League this season, one being Lionel Messi (6).
