Aston Villa in contract stand-off with rising Championship star
Premier League suitors have been put on red alert as Aston Villa struggle to convince rising Championship star Keinan Davis to sign a new long-term deal, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Davis has made a stunning start to his professional career after breaking into the Villa first team at the start of the year and his performances have already caught the eye of some Premier League sides.
Huddersfield, West Brom and Bournemouth have already been courted with an interest in the 19-year-old and the Premier League trio will continue to monitor contract talks.
The teenage striker only signed a new deal last year but Villa have made resolving his long-term a future a priority, although Davis’ representatives have already turned down several contract offers.
Davis’ current deal is reportedly worth £2,000-a-week and his representatives want to see the striker rewarded for his growing significance in the team, particularly as he has leaped ahead of £40,000-a-week striker Scott Hogan in the pecking order.
However, big spenders Villa are concerned about Financial Fair Play pressures and are not in the position to be reckless in contract negotiations. The Villa starlet has scored two goals and provided one assist in 11 Championship starts.
