Cardiff have announced they have signed Everton striker Oumar Niasse on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Bluebirds have made bolstering their offensive options a priority this month and Neil Warnock’s side are also on the verge of signing Nantes forward Emiliano Sala in a deal worth £17m.
Niasse has spent the last two years at Everton but has dropped completely out of favour under new manager Marco Silva and has no future at the club.
Warnock has been forced to play Callum Paterson in attack this season and the 24-year-old came through at Hearts as a right-back.
A deal for Niasse has been completed in time for the 28-year-old to be eligible to make his Cardiff debut against Newcastle on Saturday.
“I’m really pleased to be at Cardiff City,” he told the club’s official website. “Having heard about the manager from other players and met him earlier today, I knew this was the right move for me.
“Other clubs were interested, but I was convinced that this was where I wanted to come. I’d like to thank, the manager and Mr Ken Choo for working so hard to make the move possible. I can’t wait to get started.”
The Senegalese striker had only made five substitute appearances for Everton this season, amassing just 58 minutes of playing time.
Since August 2016, only Oliiver Giroud (12) has scored more Premier League goals than Niasse (7) as a substitute.
