Manchester City to include England international in deal for Arsenal star
Manchester City are set to test Arsenal’s resolve with another bid for Alexis Sanchez, this time including Raheem Sterling as part of the deal, according to The Mirror.
Reports surfaced on Monday of the Chilean handing in a transfer request following the Gunners’ collapse at Anfield on Sunday, which the London club have since been forced to refute.
However, City are still tipped to return with another bid for the forward, who worked under and was in fact sold during Pep Guardiola’s reign at Barcelona.
In an attempt to sweeten the deal The Mirror claim that the Manchester outfit are willing to allow Raheem Sterling to move in the opposite direction, along with an as yet undisclosed fee.
Any such offer would be a considerable one given the money that the Citizens spent to secure Sterling’s services from Liverpool and the fact that Sanchez - the England international’s senior by six years - is out of contract next summer.
It also comes as a shock given the value that the 22-year-old has already shown for Manchester City this season, scoring in back-to-back games to earn the side a point against Everton and all three at Bournemouth.
Should a deal go through the winger’s last contribution for Guardiola’s men would be the controversial red card he received for celebrating with the fans at the Vitality Stadium.
