Tevez becomes highest-paid player in the world

Carlos Tevez has signed a deal with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua to become the world’s best paid player in football.

The 32-year-old is the latest high profile footballer to sign up to the riches China has to offer following Oscar’s £60m transfer from Chelsea to local rivals Shanghai SIPG earlier this month.

However, Tevez’s deal will see the former Manchester City striker pocket a staggering £615,000-a-week over the course of his two-year stay with the Chinese Super League outfit, eclipsing the money the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo currently earn.

Shanghai Shenhua, who are managed by former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet, already boost the likes of Fredy Guarin, Obafemi Martins and Demba Ba on their books, while they have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel di Maria.

Tevez finished the Primera Division requiring just 76.4 minutes per goal or assist for his boyhood club Boca.
