Ligue 1 outfit confirm interest in Chelsea frontman

Saint Etienne manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed he is interested in signing Chelsea outcast Loic Remy.

Remy, 28, scored his first goal of the season in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester on Monday evening but has failed to make any impression on Jose Mourinho since joining the club for £10.5m in August last year.

Mourinho’s persistence to bench the France international has confused some, especially given Diego Costa’s woeful form in front of goal. However, Remy could soon be on his way back to Ligue 1, with Saint Etienne leading the chase.

“He [Remy] is one of the players that we are interested in. Loic Remy has a very interesting profile. He is part of a very big club where he is playing little,” Galtier told But Football Club.

“We will see if it is possible that Chelsea loan him us, but we will need him to partake in a part of his salary. I do not know if it is possible. But Loic is listed.”

Since the start of last season no Chelsea player has required fewer minutes per goal in the Premier League than Remy (99.6 mins).
