Spurs enter Batshuayi race

Tottenham have entered the race to secure the services of highly rated Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.

With Liverpool in pole position to secure the services of Aston Villa frontman Christian Benteke, Spurs have turned their attention to L'OM's young Belgian, who they believe can sign for £9m according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The 21-year-old has been tracked by the north London side in the past and they now seem set to firm up their interest in Batshuayi, with Mauricio Pochettino keen for the Belgium international and Harry Kane to link up in attack at White Hart Lane next season.

Despite a lack of competitive action for Marseille last season, Batshuayi still netted 9 league goals for Marcelo Bielsa's side last term, which was bettered by only Andre-Pierre Gignac (21) and Andre Ayew (10).

Furthermore, of all players to score at least 5 league goals in the Ligue 1 last season, Batshuayi had the best minutes per goal return, netting once every 99.9 minutes.

Should Spurs sign the young striker, he will become the club's fourth summer signing after Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld.
