Hull sign Larsson following Sunderland release

Hull have announced they have signed Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer after he was released by Sunderland at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old’s contract with Sunderland expired during the summer and the Black Cats opted against renewing his deal following their relegation to the Championship.

Larsson has spent his entire professional career in England after coming through the Arsenal youth academy and now the Sweden international has signed for his fourth different English side.

“I’m delighted to be here and I am really looking forward to this fresh challenge,” he told Hull’s official website.

“I had some options to consider, but I felt this was the best move for me to make and I can’t wait to get started now.”

Hull have been gutted of several key players this summer but Leonid Slutsky has now managed to make his fifth signing of the window.

Larsson has scored more goals from direct free-kicks (8) than any other Premier League player since 2009/10 campaign.
