Chelsea open to Hazard swap deal

Chelsea are considering a sensational swap deal that would see them offload Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and get James Rodriguez in return, reports the Daily Star.

Hazard, 24, was voted the PFA Player of the Season last year for his performances that led Chelsea to the Premier League title, but he has struggled to reproduce anywhere near that form this time around.

In fact, the Chelsea No.10 hasn’t scored for the Blues since the start of May and was a figure of frustration as he limped off the pitch during their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday night.

Reports from Spain suggest that Chelsea are now even prepared to let go of their star player and will look to take advantage of Madrid’s long standing interest in Hazard to lure Rodriguez the other way.

Madrid are unlikely to want to part ways with their World Cup star, but there have been rumours of unrest between Rodriguez and manager Rafa Benitez that could play a factor in this deal.

The Colombia international started the season in sensational fashion, recording three goals and one assist in his first three appearances in La Liga. However, injuries have stifled his progress and he is now without a league or an assist since the start of November.
