Cabaye ponders Palace offer

Crystal Palace are waiting on Yohan Cabaye to decide whether or not he wants to join the club after the Eagles reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain, as reported by The Guardian.

The France international has failed to have any impact at PSG since joining from Newcastle at the start of 2014 and is now open to finding football elsewhere with the European Championship less than 12 months away.

"Yohan Cabaye is definitely one we’d like to do," Palace co-chairman Steve Parish told TalkSPORT.

"It would be a massive thing for the club obviously because he’s a seasoned international. But getting the top players is difficult. It’s a difficult transfer market right now."

The fee, believed to be close to £10m, would be a new club-record for the Eagles and be a real positive step forward for the club as they look to progress once more under Alan Pardew.

The move would also see both Pardew and Cabaye resume the relationship they formed during their time at Newcastle United, where the latter flourished.

The 29-year-old departed Tyneside as the Magpies top rated player according to WhoScored.com (7.48) having scored seven goals in the first five months of the season. However, the Frenchman has failed to hit those heights since arriving in Paris, only managing 21 starts in Ligue 1 since.
