Paris Saint-Germain renew interest in Manchester City target
Paris Saint-Germain have rekindled their interest in wantaway Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and are ready to rival Manchester City for his signature, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his existing Arsenal deal and has confirmed he wants to leave the club to play in the Champions League.
Pep Guardiola wants to reunite with Sanchez at City this summer but Arsene Wenger has already ruled out a sale to one of their Premier League rivals.
The City manager is prepared to wait all summer to sign the Chile international but PSG’s fresh interest may end their pursuit once and for all.
While Wenger hopes to convince Sanchez to stay at the club and sign a new contract, Arsenal would be foolish to turn down in excess of £50m for someone that can walk away for nothing next summer.
Bayern Munich confirmed they have pulled their interest in the 28-year-old, but news that PSG want to sign Sanchez will mean Wenger does not have to strengthen a domestic rival.
In Europe’s top five leagues last season, Sanchez was one of only eight players that finished the campaign with double figures for goals (24) and assists (10). Not only that, but only Eden Hazard (7.81) finished the season with a higher WhoScored rating than Sanchez (7.76) in the Premier League.
