Arsenal are hopeful they can conclude a deal to sign Inter winger Ivan Perisic before Thursday’s deadline, claims the London Evening Standard.
Perisic has emerged as a top target for Arsenal and the Croatia international even handed in a transfer request over the weekend.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford.
United came close to signing Perisic in 2017 but refused to match Inter’s demands.
Perisic signed a new long-term deal later that summer but now wants to leave the Serie A giants amid interest from Arsenal.
Arsenal have already had a £3.5m loan bid with an option to making the move permanent rejected by Inter.
Luciano Spalletti’s side are willing to offload Perisic this month but want £35m for his signature.
Inter will only accept a loan deal this month if Arsenal agree to a clause that would make Perisic’s loan deal permanent if he starts a set number of matches.
Perisic was benched in Inter’s 1-0 defeat to Torino on Sunday amid growing talk about his future at the club.
The Croatian has scored three goals in 18 league games this season, a long way short of his haul of 11 goals in each of the last two league campaigns.
