Inter on verge of signing Nainggolan from Roma

Inter are close to signing Radja Nainggolan from Roma after making a breakthrough in talks with their Serie A rivals, reports Calciomercato.

Nainggolan is free to leave Roma this summer and there were suggestions the former Belgium international would complete a lucrative switch to China.

Inter, however, are in advanced talks with Roma and are close to securing his signature in a complicated deal worth in the region of €24m (£21m).

Luciano Spalletti is keen to reunite with the 30-year-old at Inter this summer and the Nerazzurri have even included Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo, who is regarded as their best academy prospect, as part of the deal.

Roma have already wrapped up a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain creator Javier Pastore as Nainggolan’s replacement and the transfer will go through as soon as the midfielder joins Inter.

Nainggolan has been heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea in the last 12 months but will now see out the last of his remaining peak years in Italy.

In the last two Serie A campaigns, Nainggolan has completed the most through balls (18), accentuating his statistically calculated WhoScored strength of ‘through balls’.
