Manchester United prepare huge bid for new striker

Manchester United are readying a £64m bid for Torino striker Andrea Belotti to make him the second most expensive transfer in British club football history, reports The Daily Mail.

Belotti, 23, has enjoyed a sensational season for Torino and has been heavily linked with a big money move away from the Serie A club this summer with Chelsea also reportedly interested in his services.

The Italy international signed a new five-year deal with Torino in December with a €100m (£84.8m) and the club’s president has already admitted his regret at not making the fee more.

Jose Mourinho’s side are now expected to sign two top quality strikers after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s long-term knee injury and have earmarked the signing of Belotti as the man to help partner Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann in attack.

It remains to be seen whether Torino will accept United’s planned £64m having previously been adamant they would not entertain any offers unless they match Belotti’s release clause.

What cannot be disputed, however, is the phenomenal season the Italian striker is having for Torino. Belotti is currently level with Roma striker Edin Dzeko in the race to finish as the top goalscorer in Serie A, both on 25 goals.
