Arsene Wenger will sign a new two-year deal to stay at Arsenal, regardless of the result of today’s FA Cup final, reports the Daily Mirror.
Wenger has a chance to end a disappointing season on a high when the Gunners meet London rivals Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday as Arsenal look to win their third FA Cup in the last four years.
Following a thoroughly underwhelming campaign at the Emirates, many have called on Wenger to leave, particularly with the club resigned to playing in the Europa League next season.
Despite calls for Wenger to stand down, the board now fully believe the Frenchman will sign a new contract at the club no matter what happens against Chelsea.
Arsenal could confirm the news as early as next week, with a behind-the-scenes reshuffle also expected as the north London side look to haul themselves back into the title reckoning.
A two-year offer has been on the table since October and there is now a real sense of purpose to get the deal signed so Arsenal can look ahead to the summer market.
