Borussia Dortmund have announced that Sven Bender will move to Bayer Leverkusen for a rumoured €15m.
The 28-year-old was limited to just three league starts under Thomas Tuchel last season due to injury, with new manager Peter Bosz sanctioning his sale this summer.
“We’re delighted that Sven has decided to sign for us,” said Bayer sporting director Rudi Völler via the official Bundesliga website.
“He’s an extremely experienced and versatile player, who has proved his class at Dortmund. His quality and leadership will be good for our young team.”
New Bayer Leverkusen head coach Heikko Herrlich added: “I’ve been talking to him for a very long time. His mentality and spirit make him an ideal leader on and off the pitch, just like his brother Lars.”
Bender will link up with twin brother Lars at the BayArena, who has been a Bayer Leverkusen player since 2009.
The Bender brothers will player alongside one another for the first since 2009 during their time together with 1860 Munich.
