Manchester City to miss out on Sanchez as he accepts Wenger’s decision
Alexis Sanchez has accepted he will stay at Arsenal this season before leaving on a free transfer next summer, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Chile international was in the stands to watch Arsenal beat Chelsea on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, but has been looking to leave the club all summer.
Sanchez is keen to play in the Champions League and was hopeful of reuniting with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City this season, but has now accepted Arsene Wenger will not sanction his transfer.
The Arsenal manager has been adamant all summer that Sanchez will not allowed to join a direct Premier League rival, even if that means turning down the chance to make £50m and losing him for nothing in 12 months.
In the Premier League last season, only Harry Kane (36) scored or assisted more goals than the Arsenal No.7 (34), while only Eden Hazard (7.81) secured a higher WhoScored rating (Sanchez – 7.76).
