Paul Pogba is desperate to secure a January move away from Manchester United, claims The Sun.
United have made a desperately poor start to the season and their midweek penalty shoot-out win over Rochdale has heightened Pogba’s desire to leave.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer overlooked Pogba as captain in the Carabao Cup and instead handed the armband to 21-year-old Axel Tuanzebe, who has only started four Premier League matches for the club.
Pogba wanted to join Real Madrid in the summer but United would not entertain any talks with the Spanish giants.
The 26-year-old does not want to waste the best years of his career at a club that cannot challenge for silverware and he believes United are worse off than when he returned in 2016.
Reports have emerged suggesting United want to offer Pogba a new long-term deal but the 2018 World Cup winner has no interest in renewing with the club.
Pogba is instead hopeful of securing a move away from United when the January transfer window with Madrid his preferred destination.
Despite the fact Madrid are top of LaLiga, Los Blancos have endured a turbulent start to the season, highlighted by their 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last week.
The Ligue 1 champions were missing Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani but still managed to thrash Madrid, which has heaped plenty of pressure on Zidane.
Zidane will hope the club’s poor start to the season will encourage president Florentino Perez to break the bank in January and match United’s demands for Pogba.
There have been two penalties missed in the Premier League this season and United have been responsible for both of them (Pogba and Marcus Rashford).
Pogba has only managed four Premier League appearances for United this season after suffering an ankle injury earlier this month. He has two assists in that time and a WhoScored rating of 7.14.
