Tottenham linked with move for Fenerbahce forward

Tottenham representatives were in attendance to run the rule over Kosovo striker Vedat Muriqi over the weekend, reports Sabah.

The 25-year-old started, and scored in, Kosovo’s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic as the Dardanians maintained their unbeaten start to Euro 2020 qualifying.

And Muriqi is expected to lead the line for Kosovo when they take on England tonight at St. Mary’s.

Spurs are keen on signing a backup striker who would also provide competition for a starting spot with lead man Harry Kane.

The England international missed two substantial chunks of the season with ankle problems in 2018/19 and Mauricio Pochettino is wary of being caught short of options should Kane be forced to endure a spell on the sidelines once again.

Spurs, though, would face stiff competition from a host of Serie A sides, including Lazio, Fiorentina and Napoli, should Muriqi become available as scouts from the three Italian outfits watched on at the weekend.

However, it would take a substantial bid to convince Fenerbahce to sell Muriqi, who only moved to the Istanbul side in the summer from Rizespor.

Muriqi has scored 19 goals since the start of the 2018/19 Super Lig season and his conversion rate in that time is 22.6%, the third best in the league.
