Inter sack De Boer

Inter have confirmed they have sacked Frank de Boer after just 14 matches in charge.

De Boer, 46, was made Inter manager just before the season was due to start following Roberto Mancini’s late dismissal but struggled for consistency during his brief tenure.

The Dutchman, who enjoyed six years of stellar success with Ajax before he joined Inter at the start of August, leaves the club in the bottom half of the table, as close to the relegation zone as the top four.

Inter have only won one of their last six matches in Serie A and have only won back-to-back matches on one occasion this season, which incidentally included their first win over Juventus in the league since November 2012.

The Serie A giants have confirmed Stefano Vecchi will oversee first-team matters on a temporary basis before they find De Boer’s successor, which will mean Vecchi will manage Inter in their Europa League match against Southampton on Thursday and potentially at home to league minnows Crotone on Sunday.
