Partey's agent dismisses talk of imminent Arsenal switch
The agent of Thomas Partey is adamant no talks have taken place about a summer move to Arsenal contrary to comments made by the midfielder's father.
Partey has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and his father even claimed talks were underway between the two clubs over a move.
The 26-year-old has a €50m (£43.6m) release clause in his current deal, which has left Atletico Madrid in a vulnerable position heading into the summer.
Arsenal are reportedly even willing to send former Atletico target Alexandre Lacazette in the opposite direction as a sweetener but Partey's agent has denied talks talking place.
"It's totally untrure," JJSports, who represent Partey, told Spanish outlet Marca following comments made by the player's father earlier this week.
Atletico are determined to secure Partey's long-term future and are even willing to double his current £65,000-a-week salary in an attempt to increase his release clause to the €100m mark.
After struggling for regular playing time in recent seasons, Partey has emerged as a key player for Diego Simeone this season and was particularly effective in Atletico's win over Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League before football was suspended.
Partey has reserved his best performances this season for European competition where he has a WhoScored average of 7.55 compared to 7.07 in LaLiga.
The Ghana international still has plenty to improve on, however, as he has committed the most errors directly leading to an opposition shot on goal in LaLiga this season (6). Fortunately for him, none have resulted in a goal.
