Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has dismissed speculation linking Kasper Schmeichel with a January exit from the Premier League champions.
Schmeichel, 30, has arguably been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League over the last two campaigns and was immense for the Foxes during their shock title-winning campaign last term.
The Denmark international only signed a fresh five-year deal with Leicester in the summer but has emerged as a target for Liverpool in January with Jurgen Klopp keen to address the goalkeeping situation at Anfield following Loris Karius’ poor start in England.
However, any club with an eye on a potential move for Schmeichel will be told to look elsewhere by Leicester, with Ranieri adamant they will not sell their No.1 goalkeeper next month.
“Kasper has out signature on the contract - we don’t sell Kasper. There is no chance, we don’t need money. I am sorry Liverpool, they can win the title without Kasper,” The Daily Mirror quote Ranieri as saying.
Since the start of last season only three goalkeepers have kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than Schmeichel (17).
