Griezmann fuels further talk of Premier League switch

Manchester United have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Antonio Griezmann after the Atletico Madrid talisman revealed the Premier League is on his radar.

Griezmann, 25, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this season despite the fact he only signed a new five-year deal with Atletico in the summer keeping him at the club until 2021.

However, the France international, who finished Euro 2016 as the best player, is widely expected to leave Atletico when Diego Simeone does at the end of next season, with United in pole position for his signature.

Jose Mourinho’s side would not be the only team interested in signing the Atletico ace, but probably the most likely team that could afford to pay what would be a sizeable transfer fee.

“I cannot go to Real – there is a pact between the two clubs that prohibits a transfer,” Griezmann told TF1’s Telefoot, via ESPN. “At Barca, there is no pact but their front three are indispensible.

“PSG? It is an interesting possibility but Ligue 1 does not interest me for now. I would prefer to stay in La Liga or go to the Premier League.”

In the last three La Liga campaigns only Cristiano Ronaldo (93), Lionel Messi (78) and Luis Suarez (64) have scored more goals in La Liga than Greizmann (50).
