Manchester United’s pursuit of Sancho is over

Manchester United are unlikely to sign Borussia Dortmund teenager Jadon Sancho this summer now they can no longer offer Champions League football, claims The Daily Mail.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to have to re-think his summer transfer plans after their hopes of securing a top four finish were ended last weekend.

The Red Devils could only manage a 1-1 draw away to bottom side Huddersfield and now languish four points off fourth place with just one league game remaining.

Sancho had been earmarked as a top transfer target by Solskjaer but are unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of the former Manchester City youth player now they know they will not be competing in Europe’s elite competition next term.

Dortmund were determined to fend off United’s interest and keep Sancho for at least one more season and that should now prove more straightforward for the Bundesliga outfit.

Sancho has been a revelation in Germany this season and is now considered one of the top prospects in European football, having played a direct hand in 25 goals in 32 league appearances (11 goals, 14 assists).

Furthermore, only Eden Hazard (15) has provided more assists than the 19-year-old in Europe’s top five leagues.
