Leicester eye ambitious move for Barcelona outcast

Leicester are interested in an audacious move to sign Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho this summer, reports Spanish outlet Sport.

Coutinho has been deemed surprlus to requirements at Barcelona after just two years at the club and is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga side are not expected to make Coutinho's switch permanent in the summer leaving the Brazilian's future completely up in the air.

Former club Liverpool have already ruled out Coutinho's possible return but it has now emerged Leicester are keen on the 27-year-old.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers signed Coutinho during his time at Liverpool and would relish the opportunity to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

Barcelona will have to take a significant loss on Coutinho in order to shift the Brazilian permanently.

It was widely accepted Barcelona overpaid to sign Coutinho in the first place and his reputation has dipped hugely since completing his £142M move to Camp Nou.

However, Leicester would only be interested in loaning Coutinho due to the size of the financial package required to sign the midfielder permanently.

Coutinho has struggled for regular playing time at Bayern this season following the return to form of Thomas Muller.

Nevertheless, Coutinho has notably still managed a direct hand in 14 goals in 22 league appearances for the Bundesliga giants (eight goals, six assists).

It means Coutinho is directly involved in a Bundesliga goal every 99 minutes of playing time.
