Napoli eye January move for Manchester United flop

Napoli are ready to offer Matteo Darmian a way out of Manchester United and a route back to Italy in January, reports The Daily Mirror.

Darmian has no future at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho and will be free to leave the Premier League giants next month as the Red Devils target the signing of a new full-back.

The Italy international has failed to make any impression since joining United from Torino in 2015 and now Napoli want to sign the versatile defender.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are looking to strengthen after losing star defender Faouzi Ghoulam to injury for the remainder of the season at the start of November.

Napoli are also interested in signing Atletico Madrid outcast Sime Vrsaljko next month but have been alerted to the availability of Darmian.

The 28-year-old has only made four Premier League appearances this season and turned in a wretched display in United’s shock 2-1 League Cup defeat to Bristol City on Wednesday night.
