Real Madrid win race for Luka Jovic in £51m deal

Real Madrid have agreed to sign Frankfurt starlet Luka Jovic in a (€60m) £51m deal at the end of the season, claims Spanish outlet AS.

Jovic has developed into one of the most sought after prospects in Europe this season and had been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

The La Liga champions had reportedly earmarked the Serbia international as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez but have seemingly missed out on his signature.

Madrid have been working on signing Jovic in recent weeks but have reportedly accelerated the process amid interest from their European rivals.

The 21-year-old has inked a six-year deal with Madrid and becomes the second youngster snapped up by Zinedine Zidane’s side this season.

Madrid announced €50m deal for Porto centre-back Eder Militao back in March and the 21-year-old will move to the Spanish capital at the end of the season.

Jovic has spent the last two years at Frankfurt and the Bundesliga outfit only made his loan switch from Benfica permanent earlier this month.

The Serbian striker scored in Frankfurt’s Europa League semi-final first leg stalemate with Chelsea on Thursday to take his tally in league and in Europe for the season to 26 goals.
