Crystal Palace manager urges board to resolve Zaha’s future

Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce wants chairman Steve Parish to resolve Wilfried Zaha’s future at Selhurst Park as quickly as possible.

Zaha, 24, was denied a move to Tottenham last summer and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are expected to firm up their interest in the tricky winger at the end of the season.

The Ivory Coast international still has some time left to run on his current deal that isn’t due to expire until 2020 but his £35,000-a-week wages are not even close to some of the money his own teammate are earning despite arguably being the club’s most important player.

Zaha played another key role in their win over Watford at the weekend and Allardyce has called on chairman Parish to pull out all the stops to keep him at the club.

“That’s the chairman’s responsibility,” the London Evening Standard quote Allardyce as saying when asked about the club’s ability to keep Zaha this summer.

“Spurs were always mentioned because agents or somebody decided to stir the pot. We all know who stirs the pot, behind the scenes, who do it, even though they deny it, but we know they do it.”

Palace’s chances of staying up this season will only be heightened if Zaha can continue to play well, although he still needs to find a way of matching his performances on the road at Selhurst Park.

In fact, Zaha is the second highest rated player based on performances away from home in the Premier League this season (7.79), but his rating in games played at home drops to 7.12.
