Chelsea ace rules out Real Madrid switch

Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has ruled out any interest in returning to Real Madrid.

Alonso, who made his Spain debut on Tuesday, started his career at Madrid but failed to make any impression at the club.

The 27-year-old made a name for himself in Italy with Fiorentina before earning a surprise move to Chelsea in the summer of 2016.

Alonso has developed into one of the best full backs in the Premier League in that time, but insists he isn’t considering a return to Madrid.

“I have not considered that possibility [returning to Madrid], I just try to give the best of me and my team,” Alonso told Marca.

“I made my [Madrid] debut with [Manuel] Pellegrini in 2009/10, and that summer I had the opportunity to go to the Premier League.

“I don't know what would’ve happened if I stayed, I live in the present.”

Madrid are well stocked at left-back after adding Theo Hernandez to the squad at the start of the season.

Marcelo is also considered the best left-back in the world and a move to Madrid would mean Alonso is a bit-part player.

Since the start of last season, Alonso has scored the most goals in the Premier League of all defenders (12).
