Torino want to keep Manchester City outcast

Torino manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has confirmed the club want to keep Joe Hart beyond the end of the season but admit the club cannot afford to buy the goalkeeper outright.

Hart has spent the season on loan with Torino after dropping down the pecking order at Manchester City under manager Pep Guardiola and isn’t expected to have a future at the club when his loan agreement with Torino ends in the summer.

The 29-year-old has been a hit in Italy but Mihajlovic has conceded the only way Torino could keep Hart would be another loan deal and that would entirely depend on whether City fail to receive another offer they are happy with.

“Hart would like to stay at Torino,” Football Italia quote Mihajlovic as saying before their match with Crotone this weekend. “We’re aware, both the club and him, that we can’t buy him. At most we can loan him for another year but that depends on Manchester City and what he wants.

“We want to know soon, because if we have Hart next year it’s one thing, if not then we have to plan differently. Torino can still only take him on loan, so it’s up to him and City to decide, but we need a quick decision so we can plan for the future.”

Hart would be wanted by several English clubs but it remains to be seen whether a top club would need the England international with most already settled on a No.1 goalkeeper.

Only Josip Posavec (7) has committed more errors that have directly led to an opposition shot at goal in Serie A this season than Hart (4).
