Tottenham looking to hijack Fulham's move for Man Utd midfielder

Tottenham are weighing up a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as they look to bolster in the middle of the park this summer, reports the Sun.

Fulham are believed to have had a bid for McTominay rejected by United, with the offer below the club's valuation of the Scotland international.

West Ham saw a bid in the region of £30m rebuffed for the 27-year-old last year, with United supposedly holding out for offers of around £40m for McTominay.

The player himself has just 12 months left to run on his current deal at Old Trafford, though United do have an option to extend that by a year.

Nevertheless, United are prepared to listen to offers for McTominay, who last season enjoyed his most prolific Premier League campaign to date.

Head coach Erik ten Hag is keen to retain McTominay's services though with the club spending big to sign Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, United do need to balance the books.

The likely arrival of Manuel Ugarte would also push McTominay further down the pecking order.

And Spurs are looking to capitalise as they eye up an alternative central midfielder to Conor Gallagher in their quest to add to their playing squad.

Gallagher is Spurs' number one target but have made no headway in their push to land the England international this summer.
