Bale’s agent rubbishes talk of Tottenham return

The agent of Gareth Bale has refuted suggestions his client could leave Real Madrid to return to Tottenham this summer.

Bale has no future at Madrid after being deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Zinedine Zidane but Los Blancos are struggling to shift the Welshman.

No team are willing to match Madrid’s valuation, as well as Bale’s enormous wage demands, leaving the Spanish outfit with a huge dilemma on their hands.

A return to Tottenham, whom he left to join Madrid in 2013, has been suggested but Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has poured cold water on reports.

“I don’t comment on rubbish,” he told talkSPORT.

Madrid have bolstered their offensive options this summer by signing Luka Jovic from Frankfurt and Eden Hazard from Chelsea, leaving Bale with a bleak future at the club.

Bale has struggled to stay fit for prolonged periods during his five-year stay at Madrid and only managed 21 league starts last season.

In fact, Bale has featured in just over 55.6% of Madrid’s league matches since joining the club in 2013 for a then-world record £85m deal.

The 30-year-old was even an unused substitute in Madrid’s last league game of the campaign, despite the fact it could proved to have been his last opportunity to play for the club.

Bale finished last season with less than 10 league goals for the second time in six seasons at Madrid.
