Wayne Rooney could leave Manchester United this month
Manchester United could still sell Wayne Rooney to China before the Chinese Super League transfer window shuts at the end of the month, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Rooney, 31, has been heavily linked with a move away from United this season after dropping down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and there are several clubs in China confident of striking a deal for the England captain.
The veteran striker became United’s all-time record goalscorer earlier this year but doesn’t appear to have a long-term future at Old Trafford even though he still has more than two years remaining on his current deal.
Rooney hasn’t started a Premier League game since mid-December but still has chances to play as United continue to fight on four fronts. The England and United captain has staggering offers on the table from China that will reportedly see him earn £32m-a-year, while United could also command a fee they wouldn’t be able to anywhere else.
Surprisingly, United have won 75% of the games Rooney has started in the league compared to just 41.2% of the matches he hasn’t started.
