United youngster set for new deal

Manchester United will reward Cameron Borthwick-Jackson with a new £10,000-a-week contract, according to The Daily Mirror.

Borthwick-Jackson, 18, was handed his first-team debut earlier in the season and is expected to feature more regularly with Louis van Gaal without a number of senior defenders because of injury.

The England Under-19 international is reportedly on £2,000-a-week but his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

The versatile defender has made a seamless transition into the first-team set up and was particularly impressive when he came on against Liverpool earlier this month. He has made five appearances in total this season, with three of those coming from the substitutes’ bench.
