Barcelona offered €80m for Juve star

Barcelona offered €80m (£66m) for Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, according to football agency owner Gustavo Mascardi.

Mascardi is the founder of Grupo Mascardi, which represents footballers, and claims Barcelona made an offer to Juventus some months ago that was double that of which they signed Dybala for last summer.

Barcelona were heavily linked with a move for the rising Argentina star at the end of last season and reportedly failed with a staggering €80m offer for the 22-year-old.

“When I talk with Paulo [Dybala] and his agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi, I know that the player is on the right track,” Mascardi told Gazzamercato, via AS.

“A year ago both Inter and Milan wanted him but he was right to choose the club which would give him more security. And his career at Juventus has just begun.

“There are many temptations in the transfer market but Paulo has shown that he has clear ideas. It is true that in recent months Barcelona were interested – I think they made a bid of double what the Bianconeri paid.”

Dybala scored at least nine more goals than any other Juventus teammate last season (19) as they secured their fifth straight Serie A title. Furthermore, he registered at least 19 more key passes than any other teammate (73).
