Watford manager Marco Silva is targeting a January move for Amiens full-back Oualid El Hajjam, reports The Sun.
The Hornets rejected Everton’s £20m offer to prise Silva away from Vicarage Road and now the Watford board are ready to back their man in the January transfer window.
Watford already have a deep squad and Silva will not simply add to it for the sake of signing new players, but the Portuguese does want to a new right-back to provide competition with Kiko Fermina.
Silva has already sent scouts to watch the Amiens defender on several occasions this season and is hopeful of prising the 26-year-old away from the French side in a deal worth as little as £2.5m.
Hajjam has started 11 of Amiens’ 15 Ligue 1 games this season and completed more tackles and interceptions combined than any other team-mate (61).
