Juventus lose Mandzukic for three weeks

Juventus have confirmed they will be without striker Mario Mandzukic for three weeks after picking up a thigh injury in their 2-0 at Genoa at the weekend.

Mandzukic, 29, limped off during the final 10 minutes of their victory at Stade Luigi Ferraris and will now almost certainly miss league matches against Frosinone, Napoli and Bologna as well their second Champions League match against Sevilla.

“Following the muscular problem reported yesterday, the Croatian striker was subjected to diagnostic tests,” the Bianconeri explained on their official website.

“They showed a first-grade lesion of the biceps femoris in his right thigh. He will have to wait 20 days before returning to competitive action.”

Massimiliano Allegri could be short up front with Alvaro Morata also a doubt for their upcoming fixtures after being withdrawn through injury during the first half of their league win on Sunday.
