Chelsea land new goalkeeper

Chelsea have agreed a deal with former Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, claims The Daily Mail.

The Premier League outfit are on the market for a new third-choice goalkeeper following Willy Caballero's departure earlier this summer.

Chelsea were linked with a move for ex-Manchester United shot-stopper Sergio Romero but have instead swooped for Bettinelli.

The 29-year-old saw out the final year of his Fulham contract on loan with Championship side Middlesbrough last season.

Aston Villa were also interested in signing Bettinelli but he turned down an offer from Dean Smith's side to stay in west London and join Chelsea.

Bettinelli will now undergo his medical and complete his transfer before the weekend to become Chelsea's first signing of the summer.

Of players that started at least 20 matches in the Championship last season, no player garnered a worse WhoScored rating than Bettinelli (6.25 rating).
