Chelsea and Real Madrid could be set to miss out on Porto starlet Ruben Neves after the teen sensation revealed he wants to become a ‘symbol of the club’.
Neves, 18, became the youngest captain in Champions League history when he led Porto out against Maccabi Tel-Aviv earlier in the group stages this season.
The Porto midfielder has already been capped at senior level for Portugal and his performances are already to make big impressions across Europe, but he admits he remains fully focused on seeing out his contract at Porto.
“To hear the president say that he wants to make me a symbol of the club? It’s fantastic. This made me feel very proud,” Neves told their club magazine.
“I am under contract until June 2019 and, at the moment, I am only thinking about the club achieving its goals.”
Only two outfielders have played in more minutes than Neves in the Champions League for Porto this season (438 mins) and only two teenagers have created more chances than Neves (9).
