Tottenham ahead of Manchester United in race for right-back

Tottenham are leading Manchester United in the race to sign Thomas Meunier from Ligue 1 champions PSG, reports The Sun.

Meunier is out of contract with the Parisian outfit this summer and while he has previously hinted that he would be willing to extend his stay at the club, his exit now looks likely.

Arsenal and United were linked with a move for Meunier last year, yet a transfer failed to materialise.

The latter are set to firm up their interest in the 28-year-old, but presently find themselves behind Premier League rivals Spurs in their quest to secure Meunier's services.

Both sides are looking at the prospect of bringing in a new right-back this summer and, as a free agent as of July 1st, Meunier is a interesting proposition for both Premier League sides.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is believed to have contacted Meunier personally in a bid to convince him to move to north London and it's a tactic that looks to have worked.

The Belgian will again seek to usurp Serge Aurier as first choice right-back having done so following his arrival in 2016, which ultimately saw the Ivorian move to Spurs in 2017.
