Bayern Munich have won the race to sign highly rated Hoffenheim star Niklas Sule after reaching a deal in principle to sign the defender at the end of the season, reports Kicker, via Get German Football.
Sule has been one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga this season and has been integral to Hoffenheim’s success thus far, as they prepare to start the second half of the season as the only remaining unbeaten team left in the division.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to a variety of Europe’s biggest clubs this season but Bayern have won the race for his signature in a deal worth in excess of €20m (£17.3m).
However, it has also emerged that Chelsea tabled a similar offer to Bayern but Sule turned down the chance to join the current Premier League leaders in order to join Bayern.
Only Andreas Christensen (670) has completed more passes in defensive half of the pitch in the Bundesliga this season than Sule (635).
