Chelsea are to rival Manchester City in the race to sign Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic, reports Italian publication Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.
The 29-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Serie A champions following his 2016 arrival and has routinely been linked with a move to England in recent years.
At his age, though, Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri may elect to cash in on Pjanic before he begins to drop in value.
Pjanic may have started 20 of 26 league matches this season, but Juventus may feel this summer is the best time to cash in on the Bosnian.
With David Silva out of contract and leaving in the summer, Manchester City may jump at the chance to land the experienced midfielder.
However, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard would likely pursue a move for the serial winner in a bid to boost his inexperienced squad.
Lampard has ample midfield personnel at his disposal, yet is unlikely to turn down the opportunity to sign Pjanic should it present itself.
Pjanic has returned a WhoScored rating of 7.05 in Serie A this season, yet Sarri could use the funds raised from his sale the mould the squad to his demands.
