Middlesbrough plot ambitious move for Tottenham defender

Middlesbrough are readying a late move for out of favour Tottenham left-back Danny Rose ahead of Friday's domestic transfer deadline, reports Football Insider.

The England international is surplus to requirements in north London following the arrival of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

The Spaniard was handed the number 3 shirt following his capture, with Rose left without a number at the club signalling his time at the club was up.

A move to Serie A side Genoa had been on the cards, but the deal fell through and it's possible that Rose may now not play again until the winter window.

However, Middlesbrough are prepared to rescue the 30-year-old with the Championship side willing to offer Rose regular first team action.

It would mean a drop down a division for Rose, who has previously played for Newcastle and Sunderland.

Spurs are prepared to loan Rose out for the season or sell permanently with his current deal at the club running until next summer.

Newcastle had been linked with a move for the left-back after his loan spell in the second half of the 2019/20 season, but cooled their interest and moved for Jamal Lewis instead.
