Real Madrid get green light from Zidane for first choice transfer target

Zinedine Zidane has given Real Madrid president Florentino Perez his seal of approval to move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, claims AS.

Lewandowski has emerged as a top transfer target for Madrid in recent weeks as Perez plots a summer of sweeping changes at the club.

Reports emerged last week suggesting Madrid had even agreed personal terms with Lewandowski and now only need to broker a deal with Bayern.

Zidane has backed current striker Karim Benzema through thick and thin during his time as Madrid manager but now the 30-year-old’s position is under threat.

Lewandowsk's eyes have been set on playing for Madrid for the last few years and he reportedly even changed agent last month in a bid to finally secure his dream move.

Manchester United and Chelsea are allegedly also interested in signing the Poland international this summer but Madrid are the clear favourites for his signature.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is a long-term target for Madrid but the Spanish giants have shelved their interest as they feel the Premier League outfit will price them out of a move for the 24-year-old.

In the last four Bundesliga campaigns Lewandowski has scored exactly 100 goals, at least 15 more than any other player in that period.
