La Liga giants Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Lucas Lima from Brasileirao side Santos, according to Fox Sports Brazil.
The Blaugrana are eager to reinforce their midfield this summer and have been linked with a move for PSG sensation Marco Verratti, while Ander Herrera is also believed to be on the club's radar.
However, the arrival of Lima would be a cost-saving measure, with the 26-year-old out of contract at the end of 2017.
Lima is represented by Neymar’s father, who is also Neymar’s agent at Camp Nou, with the forward talking up the idea of signing the Brazil international at the turn of the year.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich had tracked Lima in recent years and it seems as though he will be getting his big move to Europe at the beginning of 2018.
Lima has made only four league starts this season, yet is averaging 3.3 key passes per game, the the second highest return in Brazil’s top tier, with the player set to sign a four-year deal for the Spanish side.
