Man City confirm agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Haaland

Manchester City have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Erling Haaland.

City have been in the market for a striker for the best part of a year and did push to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham last summer, only to fail in their pursuit to land the Spurs striker.

And despite acquiring Julian Alvarez from River Plate in January, City have announced that Haaland will join in the summer.

"Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022," a statement read on the club's official website.

"The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player."

Haaland has directly contributed to 28 league goals for Borussia Dortmund this season, netting 21 times, despite only 20 Bundesliga matches for the German giants.

Since moving to Dortmund in January 2020, Haaland has the best conversion rate (29.9%) of the 187 players to have scored 15 or more goals over the same period.
