Former United defender rejects Pep reunion at City

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says his love for Manchester United means he will never reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Pique, 29, has been in tremendous form for Barcelona this season and there had been reports suggesting Guardiola, who will replace Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season, wanted to bring the Spaniard with him to the Etihad in the summer.

However, Pique, who spent four of his formative years developing at Old Trafford before returning to Barcelona in 2008, has rubbished those reports, citing his love for United as the reason behind it.

“My love for Manchester United is too great for me to sign for City, even thought Pep is a great coach,” Pique said speaking on Periscope, via the Press Association.

“I’m very happy in Barcelona. United are my second club, but my future is at Barca.”
